Create your dream, build your yacht
Two years ago one of our clients who already owned wide variety of yachts in the 40-60 ft. range, approached us.
The client, Reuben (a pseudonym), is an English client, approximately 70 years old, and rich with life experience, has reached a cross road in the matter of, should he change his yacht he owns, and if so, which?
He's demands were very clear, he wanted a pampering and comfortable yacht, very stable in the open sea, with low fuel usage, and a long fuel range, a yacht he could sail in comfort between he's two regular harbors, south of Franc and Israel, without going "bankrupt".
He wanted a big living room and specious rooms, a yacht big enough to accommodate he's expanding family, and large circle of friends, and that has a large crew room, so they won't be noticed.
On the other hand, he wanted a yacht small enough so he could sail on his own when he pleases.
The main issues that repeated themselves were the comfort while sailing, and the fuel range.
When we saw that Reuben is very clear on what he wants, we promised to look for a yacht that will meet all his demands, without settling for anything less.
After a long and thorough research on what the market has to offer, we have reached the conclusion that the only way to fulfill all of his heart desires is to "sew" a yacht with his exact measurements. And that is how the Gamma 20 project started.
Reuben who has been doing business with our company for years, and therefore knew we had a vast experience in semi-custom project, felt completely safe in letting us handle his personal project. With that we began a challenging, interesting and quite long project of building a yacht (which is very similar to designing one's own home), in Holland, with Dutch engineers, Italian design combined with a Dutch designer, and lots of involvement of behalf of Reuben and his wife. This process, is an intersting experience full of anticipation, excitement and also anxiety which is a given in projects of this scale.
This project is now in its final stage and there are no words to describe how thrilled we are to be able to witness the couple's dream come true.
